Cyberthieves are targeting you and you don’t even know it.
It is all over the news and we at Spectrum Technology Solution are talking about it with our clients and prospects all the time. Cybertheft is on the rise! It is no longer a question of if you will be compromised, it is when you will become a victim.
How do we know this?
Just couple weeks, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) website, ServiceArizona.com was targeted by Cybercriminals. The article on AZFamily.com (3TV/CBS5), states, “gangs of thieves are obtaining duplicate driver’s licenses belonging to unsuspecting victims from ServiceArizona.com”. These crooks are stealing driver’s licenses from people like you and me.
What concerns me most is since these criminals obtained the duplicate driver’s licenses, they have been able to open fraudulent bank accounts, credit cards, purchase vehicles and in one case, drained a home equity line of credit. The article even says, “one victim actually reported losing $300,000 from their savings account”.
ADOT says, “this has been happening since July of 2018 and we are aware of 164 cases but expect the real number to be significantly higher”. In the article, the investigators indicated there are four criminal organizations who are responsible. On the bright side, if you can call that, law enforcement has made 9 arrests.
There is no reason to be a victim of a cybercrime, you only need to take the proper precautions to protect yourself.

In a related article from AZFamily.com, they made available ways to protect yourself from identity theft.
